On desktop
- Open Discord's User Settings using the cogwheel, then select Profiles.
- Select Change Avatar or your current avatar, then choose the PNG or GIF you downloaded from this cropper.
- Check the preview, select Apply, then Save Changes.
On mobile
- Tap your avatar in the bottom-right corner, then tap Edit Profile.
- Tap your current avatar and select the downloaded PNG or GIF from your device.

Use a square source for a sharp circle
Discord accepts a square source image but displays your avatar through a circular mask. Keep faces, logos, and fine text inside the circular guide so the corners are not clipped in chats and profile cards.
To prevent blur, begin with a clean image around 200 × 200 pixels or larger, avoid repeatedly compressed files, and choose a 256 or 512 pixel download when the original contains enough detail.
